Great bag

I bought mine over 15 years ago and still in good shape. Not faded not a stitch out of place. I use it everywhere. I can easily put 1 weeks worth I'm clothes in this. I love it.

Great Carry-on Travel Backpack since 2015.

I bought the SOC Bugout Bag - black version for USD$65 in 2015 for a trip to Italy. After years of travel usage, it still looks good.

My bag weighs about 4.0 lbs and measures about 21" x 14" x 9" seam to seam. It has external compression straps so you can compress the bag down to fit any carry-on size limit. Or you can expand it another 3" and overpack it so that it looks like a puffy balloon and check it in.

The aluminum stays provide support and weight transfer of heavy loads to the hip belt. This is a technical bag which could be used for serious hiking. The stays can be removed if you want to save weight (about 12 oz, reducing bag weight to about 3.2 lbs).

The fully adjustable shoulder straps and hip belt can be stored separately behind the padded back panel. The bag can then be checked in as hand luggage. Mine also came with a long removable shoulder strap which I never use. I am not sure if the current version comes with that long shoulder strap.

My black version is 600D polyester and is made overseas. There were US-made military versions which use the much tougher and heavier 1000D cordura, but they also cost a lot more. However, the lighter weight material has proven to be durable enough for regular travel for over a decade.

There are lots of compartments and zippered pockets, including pen holders. The bag is hydration pack compatibility. There are also lots of D-rings and Molle patches for more attachments. There is no dedicated laptop sleeve, but I have not had a problem packing different sized laptops and other electronic devices in the various compartments. The main compartment is large, has a water resistant coating and has internal compression straps. I use packing cubes to organize my clothes.

I am still happy with this backpack after all these years. I find the current version to be a bit pricey, but that is a result of the current market conditions.

I attach a photo of the Bugout Bag beside my spouse's 2-wheel carry-on bag.

Terrible

I've had this bag for a year and the stitching is falling apart, the zippers are falling off, and the top is tearing open. The "lifetime warranty" is worthless if I have to pay to ship and return a defective product. If the first bag was junk, why would I spend more money for a potentially 2nd junk bag? Pictures of defects? Sure, I understand that. Pay to ship my bag back to you after taking pictures and waiting for your warranty blessing while I'm out a daily use bag? No thanks. I'd rather spend my shipping costs on a different brand.

Purchased in 2002.

I bought my Bugout Bag in 2002. 23 years later, I still use it. Best backpack I’ve ever had! I used to fit everything I wanted to take on my deployments in it. Now it is my carry on for trips. I highly recommend this bag.
